Someone In Heaven
(Sonja S. Key)
Someone In Heaven is a little different than the other songs. It was written to let you know what I do when I make mistakes and when friends desert me. When that happens, the pain goes deep. Friends don’t often explain the reasons behind their actions. Because you don’t know all the details of why they backed away from you makes it harder to bear. I get comfort from looking at the stars, the moon and remembering the vastness of our universe. It reminds me of my creator God and of the love Jesus has shown towards me. I know I have His unending love to sustain me during these times. His love transcends the love of people and endures beyond time. He loves me perfectly and completely.
"Someone In Heaven" won an "Honorable Mention" award in the December 2007 "Song of the Year" contest. To see the award page, click on "links" from the side menu and then click on "Song of the Year."
SOMEONE IN HEAVEN
Words and Music by Sonja S. Key
“The Lord is on my side and takes my part.
He is among those who help me...” Psalm 118:7
Verse 1:
When I’m not good
Don’t do what I should
It hurts me
It hurts me
Verse 2:
When friends walk away
With nothing to say
They desert me
How it hurts me
Pre-Chorus:
That’s when I lift my eyes
View God’s glory in the night skies
The moon the stars and the milky way
Remind me
They remind me
Chorus:
There’s someone in heaven who loves me
He’s always always on my side
He takes my part
He knows my heart
He believes in me
There’s someone in heaven who loves me
Beyond the end of time
Jesus loves me completely
Jesus loves me
Coda:
Jesus loves me completely (5x)
Completely completely
Jesus loves me He loves me He loves me
O He loves me
